Castleford House Nursing Home

On Thursday 2nd December 2021 Jess Gayford, Fiona Hutchings, Anna Mason, Jade Mason and Kym Swan represented Castleford House to collect the “Healthy Workplaces Gloucestershire” award.
The award celebrates workplaces that have focussed on health and wellbeing. Victoria Lukins, project manager for the Healthy Workplaces scheme, said: “they are implementing health and wellbeing measures to support staff, keep them healthy, keep them happy, increase productivity and reduce sickness absence”. At the awards, it was announced that Castleford House “aims to provide the best person-centred care. In order to do that it is essential that the team have a supportive and positive working environment.” The five girls who represented the team had prepped some words prior to the awards, and identified that Castleford House’s approach is:

  • We are a team
  • We all stick together mentally and physically to make sure the working environment is positive and supportive
  • Everyone respects each other and is treated equally
  • Management are approachable and have an open door policy at all times
  • The atmosphere is kept as calm as possible, which in turn helps people living at Castleford feel calm

Domestic assistant Jade and care assistant Kym went up to collect the award on behalf of the team. About the event, Jade said: “it was great, I really enjoyed it – we are Outstanding, after all.”
To be identified as one of the healthiest workplaces in Gloucestershire to work is a fantastic achievement, which we are all extremely proud of. It was an amazing start to one of the best evenings the home has experienced since being rated overall “Outstanding” by CQC in 2019.
